There is nothing quite more refreshing than a glass of cool iced tea on a hot summer afternoon. I always like to add a seasonal twist to my drinks. Since summers in India are almost synonymous to mangoes, and given my love for fresh juicy mangoes, I had to curate a mango iced tea recipe. This one that I came up with is the perfect blend, just enough fruity while also retaining the classic iced tea flavor so that it doesn’t taste like a regular mango drink.

It’s quick and easy to make with just 5 ingredients and it’s incredibly REFRESHING! Plus it’s great to carry – think sunny picnics, office lunches, or even a summer day lunch swap!

What mangoes to use?

As someone born and raised in Bombay, my love for mangoes starts and stops at Alphonos. Sure, there are other varieties that are pretty great too but lets not even argue about the superiority of the alphonso over all others. Haha! But truly, while I’ve used only Alphonso (obviously) for this mango iced tea, I don’t see why other mango varieties wouldn’t work well here. The sweetness in the recipe can easily be adjusted depending on the kind of fruit you use and how tart it is. Infact I think if you try slightly sour mangoes such as Pairi, you could even swap the sugar with honey to make a bring a truly unique flavour to your iced tea!

Not just honey, use any sweetener of your choice in this beverage since it’s a really versatile recipe. The lemon juice and mint leaves are to balance out the flavors but you could even use fresh basil leaves or skip the herbs altogether. This mango iced tea is perfect for outdoor picnics, social gatherings or to simply enjoy a glass in your own company. Self-love is the key, guys!

So, without further ado, try the most refreshing summer drink ever!
